NMJC Women’s and Men’s Rodeo Results at ENMU Sept. 21-23, 2017
The New Mexico Junior College Rodeo Team opened up the 2017-18 NIRA/SWR Rodeo season this past weekend at the Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM, under the direction of the new co- head rodeo coaches Clay Bonner and Stewart Kinley, by qualifying five members of the rodeo team to the rain drenched muddy short go round Saturday evening.
Sophomore, Tyce McLeod in steer wrestling placed fifth in the average with the time of 14.2 sec. on two steers. Tyce placed fourth in the long go with the time of 6.3 sec. and fifth place in the short round at 7.9 sec. .
Freshmen, Tee McLeod (header) teamed up with his brother Tyce (heeler) in team roping to win the long go round with a fast time of 5.1 sec., but they had a No Time for the short go round, which took them out of the average.
Sophomore, Swaize Lee was the lone NMJC woman to make it back to the short go round. Swaize split 8/10 in breakaway roping for long go with the time of 3.2sec., 12.3 sec. in the short go splitting 6/8. She finished eighth in the average.
Sophomore Logan DeLinte place 5th in the long go of saddle bronc riding with the score of 62. In the short go, Logan was bucked off for a No Score but stilled finished fifth in the average.
Tyce Mcleod finshed second for the All Around with 130 points by placings in team roping and steer wrestling. The NMJC Men’s Team finished sixth overall with 230 points. Odessa College won the men’s title scoring 360 points.
This coming Thursday thru Saturday, September 28-30, 2017, NMJC Rodeo will be at Vernon, TX, for the Vernon College Rodeo the second of five fall rodeos.
