Ever since coming to NMJC, Ester Gitahi has done nothing but win for the Lady Thunderbirds track and field program. Over the weekend, Gitahi continued her dominance as she helped the Lady T-Birds to another national championship.
Thursday, Gitahi got the NJCAA Women's Track & Field National Championships underway with a win in the 10,000-meter run. She then helped the Lady T-Birds win the 4x800. She later took second in the 5,000 and the 1,500 runs.
With her win in the 10,000 run and the 4x800, Gitahi earned First Team All-American honors. She picked up second team All-American honors for finishing second in the 5,000 and 1,500 runs.
Overall, she scored 36 points for NMJC. Gitahi recorded 10 points for her 10,000 win and another 10 points for helping the Lady T-Birds win the 4x800. She then picked up eight points for finishing second in the 5,000 and the 1,500.
