MIDLAND, Texas — The New Mexico Junior College baseball team defeated Midland College 6-3 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday in Midland.
The Thunderbirds (35-17) threw eight pitchers in the nine inning game with Isaac Lopez getting credit for the win – tossing an inning of scoreless relief.
Kody Russell paced NMJC by going 3-for-4 with a double, stolen base and three runs. Zak Felix went 1-for-4 with two RBI while Terance Barela and Matt Martin each had two hits with Martin adding an RBI.
NMJC plays its final Western Junior College Athletic Conference series of the year when it begins a four-game series on the road Friday against Luna Community College in Las Vegas, N.M. The T-Birds are in third place, three games back of first-place Howard College and a game behind second-place Midland.
