Thunderbirds roll; score 42 runs in DH sweep of NMMI

The New Mexico Junior College Baseball team took out their frustration from Friday's split by scoring 42 runs in the double header sweep of NMMI in Roswell scoring 21 runs in each game.
GAME 3 RECAP
A magnificent effort byLuis Pintor carried NMJC Thunderbirds to a 21-3 win in five innings over NMMI on Saturday.
Pintor racked up seven RBIs on four hits for NMJC Thunderbirds . He homered in the first and third innings, tripled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the fifth inning.
Eleven runs in the opening three innings allowed the Thunderbirds to easily put away NMMI. A solo home run by Pintor, an RBI double byJeff Deimling, a two-run home run byTravon Benton, and an RBI single by Kody Russell during the first inning and a solo home run by Deimling in the second inning fueled NMJC Thunderbirds 's offense early.
NMJC hit six home runs in the win. Additional home runs for the Thunderbirds came when Pintor homered in the first and third innings and Jesse Becton homered in the third and fourth innings.
Sophomore hurler, Blake Walden got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over four innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered five hits.
NMJC Thunderbirds easily handled NMMI pitching as seven hitters combined for 16 hits, 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
Carlos Ortiz couldn't get it done on the bump for NMMI, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out five.
The Thunderbirds built upon its lead with five runs in the third. The inning looked promising, as Becton homered to kick things off. That was followed up by Pintor's blast, plating Daniel Herrera, Angel De Hesus and Russell.
NMJC Thunderbirds increased its lead with nine runs in the fourth. Becton's three-run home run got things going, plating Benton and Zac Sanders. That was followed up by De Jesus' double, bringing home Herrera.
GAME 4 RECAP
Jesse Becton hit two home runs to carry the NMJC Thunderbirds to a 21-5 win in game 4 over NMMI six innings and a 3-1 series win.
Everything was working at the plate for the NMJC Thunderbirds in the fourth. In the inning NMJC Thunderbirds scored 13 runs. NMJC Thunderbirds scored in the fourth on a solo home run by Becton, a home run by Luis Pintor, a groundout by Jeff Deimling, a three-run home run by Becton, a two-run triple by Angel De Jesus, an RBI single by Pintor, and a wild pitch.
NMJC Thunderbirds hit five home runs in the win. Additional home runs for the Thunderbirds came when Trent Herman homered in the fifth inning and Matt Martin homered in the fifth inning.
Even though Brian Archibald allowed five runs over 3 1/3 innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered six hits.
Thunderbirds hitters easily handled NMMI pitching as seven hitters combined for 15 hits, 18 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
Preston Inman was charged with the loss. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
The bottom of the first saw NMMI take an early lead, 2-0. Marion Mcleansingled to ignite NMMI's offense, before Alex Howard homered, scoring Mclean.
The Thunderbirds piled on seven more runs in the top of the fifth. Herman homered, scoring Zac Sanders and Becton to start the inning.
