Ramirez & Orrantia Named NJCAA All-Americans
The Thunderbirds earned a variety of postseason honors following the conclusion of the 2025 baseball calendar.
Designated hitter Julius Ramirez was named an NJCAA Second Team All-American, WJCAC MVP, and an All-Region V distinction. Ramirez batted .405 with 26 homers, 102 RBI, and an .860 slugging percentage. The sophomore was No. 3 in the NJCAA in homers and RBI.
The T-Birds now have three straight Second Team All-Americans (Ramirez, Iredale, & Jasso) and a First Team selection in 2022 (Tucker). NMJC also has now won the WJCAC MVP four years straight (Ramirez, Iredale, Iredale, and Tucker).
Starting pitcher Brayan Orrantia picked up NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors, WJCAC Pitcher of the Year, and All-Region V honors. Orrantia finished the year with the third most wins in junior college going 12-3 with a 3.16 ERA, 83 ks, and 85.1 innings pitched.
The Los Mochis, SI, Mexico native is the first pitcher from the WJCAC to be named an All-American since 2015.
Center fielder Casen Savage earned First Team All- WJCAC and All-Region honors batting .337 with 20 doubles. Starting pitcher Donovan Becerra picked up First Team All-WJCAC going 6-2 on the year with 78 strikeouts and a 4.31 ERA.
Catcher Lachlan Maude was one of four named to the Second Team All-WJCAC list. Maude batted .302 with 11 homers and 12 doubles. First baseman Lane Arroyos earned Second Team All-WJCAC honors batting .370 with 20 doubles and 47 RBIs.
Ricardo Rojas was the lone pitcher to earn Second Team All-WJCAC distinction with a 9-3 record, a 5.17 ERA, and 46 punchouts. Catcher/second baseman Jorge De Los Santos was the final T-Bird honoree picking up Second Team All-WJCAC honors with a .365 batting average, 13 doubles, and six triples.
NMJC ended their season in the second round of the Region V Tournament with a 40-20 (27-9) record. The T-Birds have won 40 or more games in six straight seasons.
