T-Birds Finish Second in the SW Championship
The NMJC golf team competed in the Southwest Championship this week at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Fort Worth, TX.
The T-Birds played three rounds on the par 71. The T-Birds were in the lead after round one shooting 285 with Midland College in second place and Odessa College in third. Midland College took the lead in round two and three shooting 285 in the second and 279 in the third.
The T-Birds finished round two shooting 289 and 285 in the third. After 54 holes the T-Birds finished second place shooting 859 and 7 over the par 71.
Freshman Matthis Lefévre took home the Individual Champion trophy finishing the tournament shooting 206 and 7 under. Freshman Timothy Chan finished top 10 in seventh place shooting 215 and 2 over.
The T-Birds will head to Brownwood, TX on April 25th to compete in the NJCAA District 2 Championship tournament where they will play another 54 holes. These 54 holes combined with the 54 holes played in the SW Championship will determine the NJCAA national qualifiers.
