NMJC (M-Golf) Holds Steady in 5th Place After 54 holes of the 2025 Men’s Golf Championship

The NMJC men's golf team held strong in fifth place after recording an 8-over team total of 296 in Round 3 of the 2025 NJCAA Men's Golf National Championship.

The T-Birds (+14) are 20 shots back of first place Midland College (-6).

Second place is Odessa College at 3-over, and third place is a tie between Indian Hills and Hutchinson CC at 9-over.

Adam Bresnu of Odessa College and Charlie Box of Hutchinson CC are tied for the individual lead at 6-under par.

Henry Drake is tied for 14th place at 1-over par following his even-par 72 in Round 3 at Sand Creek Station GC. Drake made six pars, two bogeys, and a birdie to end his first nine holes at 1-over. A birdie on the par-4 11th moved Drake back to even where he stayed the rest of the day shooting a third-round 72. Drake through three rounds has shot 72-73-72. 

Elias Pettersson is tied for 24th place at 3-over par after shooting a 2-over 74 in Round 3. The sophomore began his day with a birdie on No. 1. Six bogeys in his next 12 holes moved Pettersson to 5-over on the day. The Swede found some rhythm in the final three holes making three straight birdies to close with a 2-over 74. Pettersson has shot 73-72-74 through three rounds.

PJ Herron also shot a 2-over 74 in Round 3 and now sits in a tie for 30th place at 6-over par. Herron began his round par-bogey before rattling off three consecutive birdies on holes 3-5. Herron bogeyed three of his next four holes to go out in 1-over. The freshman made six straight pars on the back and then finished double-par-birdie to shoot 1-over on the back and 2-over for the day. Herron through three rounds has shot 75-73-74. 

Jake Yrene is T-44 at 9-over par following third round action on Thursday. Yrene was 1-over through nine holes making two bogeys and a birdie. The freshman made three straight bogeys on holes 12-14 followed by a birdie on 15 and another bogey on 16. Yrene was 3-over on the back and shot a 4-over 76. The Albuquerque, NM native has shot 72-77-76 through three rounds.

Oliver Ruutu ended Day 3 at 12-over par in a tie for 60th place after shooting a 9-over 81 in Round 3. Ruutu made three bogeys on the front to go out in 39. The Finn's back was a struggle as he recorded four bogeys, a double, and four pars to shoot 42 (+6) ending his third round with an 81. Ruutu through three rounds has shot 72-75-81. 

Tee times for Round 3 are as follows from hole 1, Oliver Ruutu will tee off at 11:50 a.m. CDT, Jake Yrene at 12 p.m. CDT, PJ Herron at 12:10 p.m. CDT, Elias Pettersson at 12:20 p.m. CDT, and Henry Drake at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
