NMJC's Woods, Collier move closer to CNFR
Woods takes 4th in bareback, Collier 7th in barrel racing at Ranger Rodeo
BROWNWOOD, Texas — New Mexico Junior College's Linden Woods and Kellie Collier each finished in the top 10 of their respective event at the Ranger College Rodeo on Saturday.
Woods finished fourth in average in bareback riding after splitting third and fourth in both the long go (70 points) and the short go (74 points). He's on the bubble of qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo (set for June in Casper, Wyo.) as he sits in fourth place in the NIRA/SWR standings. The top three qualify in each event.
Collier finished seventh in barrel racing this weekend, splitting sixth and seventh in the long go (17.57 seconds) and taking sixth in the short go (17.69). She's also on the bubble to qualify for the CNFR as she sits in third place.
With one event left – the Tarleton State Rodeo, which starts Thursday – Keely Bonnett (tie down roping) and Devin Wigemyr (team roping) are also on the cusp of qualifying for the CNFR as both are in fourth place.
