T-Bird (W-Golf) Embarks on 3rd Season
NMJC begins the 2025-26 women's golf season Monday, Sept. 15 at the Seahawk Shootout in West Palm Beach, Fla.
"We're very excited to be going to Florida," NMJC women's golf head coach Kendalyn Ferguson said. "The only other time we've been to Florida was nationals in '24, so it's special to start our regular season there. Playing a PGA course will be tough, but it's a great challenge and we're ready for it."
The Thunderbirds fall team consists of six freshmen and five sophomores. Two of those sophomores travelled to the 2025 NJCAA National Championship where the team placed fourth in Garden City, Kan. Sophomore Giuliana Frutos finished T-38 at 29-over while Stefany Crozier was designated as the team's sub during the team's four rounds.
Frutos finished with eight top-15 finishes and ranked No. 39 in JUCO. Crozier was just behind ranked No. 51 with seven top-15 finishes.
NMJC features a five-man team at the Champion Course at PGA National to open the season.
Freshman Tova Sandren leads the pack for the Thunderbirds alongside freshman Megan Dawson, freshman Chutikran Phermthongmak, freshman Sophie Brothwood, and sophomore Stefany Crozier.
Rounding out the women's squad this year is sophomore Giuliana Frutos, sophomore Chase Fields, freshman Ella Cornwell, sophomore Jordyn Cruz, freshman Ronja Nordell, and sophomore Zoe Munoz.
2025-26 marks the third season of the T-Bird women's golf program. NMJC was led by four sophomores during the 2025 postseason in Kansas which leaves big shoes to fill.
"Our first players built a strong foundation for this program," Coach Ferguson said. "The new freshmen are talented, hardworking, and are only going to keep improving with more experience."
NMJC will play in six events in the fall across three states.
"This fall is our toughest schedule yet- Florida plus multiple Division II events, most of them 54 holes," Coach Ferguson said. "Our goal is to gain experience, be competitive in every field, and use the fall to build momentum for a strong spring and postseason run."
NMJC will tee off at the Seahawk Shootout with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. EDT. The 54-hole event runs Sept. 15-16 in West Palm Beach, Fla. To follow live scoring click here.
