T-Bird (W-Golf) Places 9th, Top Juco Team in Field
NMJC women's golf finished in 9th place at the Seahawk Shootout in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
The T-Birds shot 96-over par behind champion Keiser at 45-over. Dalton State's Jia Kataria and SCAD Savannah's Sharon Stan tied for first place individually at 7-over.
The Thunderbirds were the best-finishing junior college team in the field outpacing Palm Beach State by 16 strokes.
Dear Phermthongmak was the top performer for NMJC this week at the PGA National Resort in her first event with the T-Birds. The Pathumthani, Thailand native finished T-28 shooting rounds of 80-80-77 at 21-over par.
Sophie Brothwood finished the week at 23-over par. The freshman shot 80-78-81 to end the tournament in a tie for 38th place. Megan Dawson came in 45th place at 27-over this week after rounds of 78-86-79.
Stefany Crozier was the lone sophomore in the lineup in Florida. The Southampton, England native struggled shooting 86-77-88 to post 35-over at T-61. Freshman Tova Sandren was the final member of the team score. The Halmstad, Sweden native had a tough week with rounds of 84-88-80 to finish T-65 at 36-over.
The Thunderbirds will be back in action at the High Country Collegiate Sept. 22-23 in Ruidoso, NM at Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club.
