NMJC's Grange sets school record
No. 3 Lady T-Birds add two new national qualifiers
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Georgia-bound sophomore Gleneve Grange set a school record in the weight throw while the No. 3 New Mexico Junior College women's track and field team qualified in two more events for nationals while improving on six other marks at the UNM Don Kirby Elite this weekend.
Grange improved her mark in the weight throw with a toss of 49 feet, 6 1/4 inches to set a Lady Thunderbird record.
Qualifying for nationals was Kayelle Clarke in the 60-meter dash (7.75) while she also improved her qualifying mark in the 200 (24.45).
Also qualifying for nationals for NMJC was Cheyenne Hoerr in the 200 with a time of 25.40 seconds.
Lady T-Birds who also improved their national qualifying mark were: Mayah Edwards (60 - 7.67), Quadaisha Newkirk (400 - 56.29), Jahneya Mitchell (400 - 57.56) and Tiffany Garcia (400 - 57.83).
NMJC next competes Friday at Texas Tech.
