Lady T-Birds add four qualifiers at West Texas A&M meet
NMJC's Shannon wins high jump, sets facility record
CANYON, Texas — The fourth-ranked New Mexico Junior College women's track and field team added four national qualifiers while Kelsey Shannon set a facility record at the West Texas A&M Classic on Saturday.
NMJC's Cheyenne Hoerr (400 meters - 55.29 seconds), Silvia Sosa (800 - 2:19.98), Jahneya Mitchell (800 - 2:20.91) and Purity Murray (3,000 steeplechase - 11:44.76) all qualified for the NJCAA national meet this weekend while Sosa also improved her national qualifying time in the 1,500 (4:54.26).
Shannon won the high jump at the event by setting a facility record with a jump of 5 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
The Lady T-Birds host the Ross Black NMJC Track and Field Open on Saturday – the first meet NMJC has hosted in over 20 years.
