Tbirds run well at Cherry and Silver Invite

Competing much closer to home, the New Mexico Junior College Track & Field team turned in 13 new NJCAA national qualifying marks, improved on one, and set two new school records in the 4X400 Relay and Triple Jump.
The relay team of Jahneya Mitchell (56.7), Quadaisha Newkirk (55.1), Kamira Franklin (57.5) and Christine Moss (54.9) blazed their way to a time of 3:44.74 which qualified them for the NJCAA National Indoor Track & Field Championships and etched their names into the top of the NMJC record books.
Latavia Coombs tied the triple jump school record in prelims with her jump of 40'2 ¼" and in the finals, Tamara Moncrieffe improved her triple jump qualifying mark to 40'2 ¾" and broke the school record.
New qualifying marks include last years outdoor 200m National Champion Kayelle Clark who turned in a 7.72 60m time and a 24.48 in the 200m. A complete list of new NJCAA National Qualifying marks is listed below.
The Thunderbirds will travel to Lawrence, Kansas and compete in the Jayhawk Classic on Friday and Saturday, January 29th & 30th.
