No. 3 Ranked Tbirds improve marks at WT Invite
Canyon, TEXAS
The third ranked New Mexico Junior College outdoor track & field team competed well at the WT invitational as Christine Moss and Tamara Moncrieffe each won individual titles in the 200m and Triple Jump respectively. Moss ran 23.42 for the title and Moncrieffe leaped 40'11 3/4".
Quadaisha Newkirk (24.40) and Jahneya Mitchell (24.42) each qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor Championships in the 200m as well.
At the conclusion of the meet, the Thunderbirds saw their total number of championship qualifiers to 38 in 17 events. Of the qualifiers, the Thunderbrids are national leaders in six events. All three relay teams lead the nation.
Rochelle Frazer leads the nation with a 166'4 toss in the discus and Moncrieffe holds the top spot in the triple jump with a leap of 41'1 1/2". Moss's time of 23.42 in the 200m gave her the lead as well.
NMJC will head to Lubbock on April 15-16, 2016 for the Texas Tech Open before returning home on April 23 for the second annual Ross Black Relays.
