Coombs shines at 2nd Annual Ross Black Relays

Latavia Coombs had herself a day at the Second Annual Ross Black Relays. The Freshman took home three event wins and meet records, two school records and improved on her marks for the upcoming NJCAA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Coombs started the day with a school record and NJCAA leading leap of 42'9 3/4". She then followed that up with another school record as she ran the 100m hurdles in 14:00 flat. Finally, the standout freshman won the Long Jump with a leap of 19'5 1/4" which was a meet record and improved qualifying mark.
For the meet, the Thunderbirds won a total of 10 events while setting eight school records.
Kayelle Clarke won the 200m (23.33) and improved her qualifying time. She also took home event wins in the 4x100m (45.13) teaming up with Shaneika Bowra, Christine Moss and Quadaisha Newkirk and 4x400m (3:42.86) as she teamed up with Jahneya Mitchell, Newkirk and Moss.
Next up for the Thunderbirds is the UTEP invitational in El Paso, Texas on April 30th.
