The Indoor National Champion T-Birds opened the outdoor portion of their season Saturday at the UTEP Springtime Meet. One of the goals of the first meet is to work on some of the events that are only held in the outdoor and the T-Birds did that in a big way. The 4 x 100 Meter Relay team of Trishawna Crawford, Christine Moss, Britney Hew and Shian Hyde started the meet off with a win and the fastest time in the NJCAA (44.82). Three of the four (Hyde, Crawford, and Hew) also turned around and qualified for nationals in the 100M. In the hurdles, Latavia Coombs qualified in both the 100M and 400M hurdles. In the Field Events Rochelle Frazer qualified for nationals in the discus throw and Taneika Elliston qualified in the Javelin.
Up next the T-Birds will compete at the Texas Relays on March 30th- April 1st.
