Lady T-Birds compete at the 2021 Wrangler Classic

The New Mexico Junior College Volleyball team spent the weekend in Odessa TX where they competed in the 2021 Wrangler Classic. The Lady T-Birds finished the weekend going 2-1.
The women won 3-0 against Hill College Friday morning to open the weekend. After their first match, the Lady T-Birds fell 0-3 to Navarro College that afternoon after a close three sets. The team finished their weekend by defeating Trinidad State in four sets Saturday morning.
Sophomore Kristine Teivane from Latvia led the team in kills with 41 kills, followed by freshman Maggi Teixeira from Brazil who had 29 kills. Sophomore Ta'Nya Gibson of Crosby, TX led the team in digs with 42 digs, followed by freshman Lacie Schooley of Roswell, NM who had a total of 33 digs and 88 assists. Freshman Luiza Arsufi of Brazil also put up some numbers with a total of 7 aces.
The Lady T-Birds will continue their season with their next game on Friday September 3rd at the Kruse Kickoff Classic in Brenham, TX against Blinn College at 12:00PM CST.
