The Thunderbirds defeated Western Texas College in four sets to earn their second WJCAC win of the season.
NMJC won the first set 25-20 but dropped the second set to the Westerners 22-25. The third set went the way of the T-Birds 25-20 and NMJC won the match 25-15 in the fourth set.
Outside hitter Deniz Akgul led the team with 14 kills and five blocks. Setter Kawena Crowell finished with a career-high 25 assists.
Outside hitter Leticia Neves registered 13 kills and eight digs. Sophomore Ava Kincaid added eight kills and eight digs. Setter Noemi Marinho posted 24 assists while middle Elif Akarsu tallied five blocks.
The Thunderbirds move to 11-8 (2-1) on the year and will play Clarendon College on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM.
