The T-Birds fell to Odessa College in four sets in their final home match of the year on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
The Thunderbirds recognized seven sophomores for their contributions to the program on Wednesday prior to the first serve. The T-Bird sophomores were Ava Kincaid, Leticia Neves, Zaira Romero, Rebecca Rosculet, Deniz Akgul, Duda Tonella, and Andjela Sojic.
NMJC won the opening set 25–23 to start sophomore night. Unfortunately, they couldn't maintain the momentum the rest of the evening and dropped the next three sets 25-15, 25-16, and 25-11.
Setter Noemi Marinho ended the match with 21 assists and eight digs. Sophomore outside hitter Leticia Neves registered 14 digs and nine kills. Libero Lauren Shiplet posted 19 digs in the four-set loss.
Right side Andjela Sojic had a team-high 11 kills, while middle Duda Tonella tallied five blocks. Setter Kawena Crowell recorded 10 assists and seven digs.
The Thunderbirds drop to 14-15 (5-8) on the year and will play NMMI on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. MDT in Roswell, NM.
