NMJC (W-Half Marathon) Ends Season in 6th Place
The NMJC women's half marathon team finished in sixth place with 63 points at the 2025 NJCAA Women's Half Marathon Championships on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Lakeside Municipal GC.
The Thunderbirds ended the day 13 points behind third place Ranger College, 43 points behind second place, and 52 points back of national champion Odessa College.
The T-Bird runners finished in succession at 22nd, 23rd, and 24th place in Fort Dodge, IA.
Lisel Ndlovu ran well at the half marathon after competing in the snow at cross country Saturday morning. The sophomore was the top finisher in 22nd place with a time of 1:26:49.80. The Bulawayo, Zimbabwe native ran 4:51 faster than her run in 2024.
Hadil Chiha was right behind Ndlovu in 23rd place after crossing the line in 1:27:32.00. Chiha improved her half marathon time by 36 seconds compared to the year prior.
Sophomore Lindsey Lopes was the final runner for NMJC out on the course. The T-Birds only needed three runners to score instead of the five in cross country. Lopes finished her first half marathon in 1:27:53.30, recording a 24th-place finish.
The Thunderbirds end the half marathon season as the sixth-best team in the NJCAA.
