New Mexico Junior College freshman Malique Trent was named NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention when the Division I teams were released Tuesday.
Trent (Portsmouth, Va.) averaged 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game for the Thunderbirds, helping them go 23-9 and finish third in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference at 11-5.
Trent drained the second-most 3-pointers in a season in NMJC history with 82 as he hit 38.3 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
Trent is one of two WJCAC players to be honored as South Plains center Emmanuel Omogbo was named to the second team.
