Hobbs, NEW MEXICO (October 31, 2015) –
There were no tricks, only treats, for the New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball team on Halloween night as they defeated the Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers, 72-70 in the Tate Branch Dodge Classic at Caster Activity.
Jalin Hart scored 17 points but none more important than his last two that gave the crowd of 487, a treat as he took the inbounds pass with less than four seconds and raced through the Pioneers defense and hit the game winning layup with 0.02 seconds left to seal the win.
Randy Haynes scored 18 points to go along with 9 rebounds, just missing a double-double and Tyler Blount scored 14.
The Thunderbirds return to action on Sunday night as they close out the 5th Annual Tate Branch Dodge Classic against New Mexico Military Institute, who defeated Trinidad State 86-82 earlier in the day. Game time is at 5:00 P.M.
