Thunderbirds stay hot; defeat Clarendon
Hobbs, NEW MEXICO
The New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball team continued their winning ways on Monday as they held off the feisty Clarendon College Bulldogs 97-87.
Randy Haynes shouldered the load as he poured in a career and game high 29 points on 11-for-17 shooting. He added five rebounds, four assists and a team high two steals to lead the way.
Xabier Gomez added 16 points, knocking down 3-of-4 from behind the arc and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore point guard, Jalin Hart scored 13 and dished our a career and game high 11 assists to record his first double-double of the season. Tyler Blount added 12 points off the bench and added two assists.
The Thunderbirds dominated the paint on both sides of the court. They outscored the Bulldogs 50-16 in the paint and outrebounded them 46-32. Sophomore Devin Wyatt continued to be a force on the defensive end as he blocked six more shots.
The Thunderbirds willl be at home on Monday, January 18th against Midland College. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
