The New Mexico Junior College Men's Basketball teams furious second half comeback attempt wasn't enough as they fell to the visiting Texans 84-80.
Randy Haynes shouldered the load and did all he could pumping in a game high 31 points and grabbing nine boards, while shooting a blistering 8-of-11 from behind the arc. The eight three pointers made by Haynes was also a career high. Tyler Blount finished the game with 23 points knocking down four from downtown and shooting 9-of-16 from the field. Jalin Hart chipped in 13 points and added five assists.
South Plains shot 54% from the field and outrebounded th Thunderbirds by 10, 33-to-23 and dominated the points enjoying a 40-to-20 advantage.
The Thunderbirds will travel to Clarendon College to take on the Bulldogs on Thursday. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 P.M. MST.
