NMJC (M-Golf) Finishes 6th in Ruidoso
NMJC men's golf finished in sixth place at 31-under in Ruidoso, NM at the High Country Shootout on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Odessa College won the tournament at 58-under par followed by Midland College at 57-under and Garden City CC at 50-under. Jules DeBrauwere of Odessa College won the tournament individually after finishing at 19-under.
Samu Kyntola led the way for NMJC with a T-7 finish at the Links at Sierra Blanca. The freshman shot rounds of 67-69-67 to finish at 13-under for the week.
Tristan Kolasinski tied for 22nd at 9-under par following rounds of 70-68-69. Kolasinski was second in par-5 scoring shooting 12-under and was also second in the field with three eagles.
Oliver Ruutu matched his teammate Kolasinki with a 9-under T-22 finish. The sophomore shot 72-67-68 over 54 holes in Ruidoso.
Freshman Severi Varis finished the tournament at even par after shooting 75-71-70 to place T-52. Nick Friedrichsen rounded out the team score with a 54-hole total of 9-over. The sophomore finished in 78th place following rounds of 77-73-75.
Zachary Ewing was the top individual for NMJC this week. The sophomore transfer opened with an even-par 72 before firing a bogey-free 64 which featured eight birdies. The round was tied for the second-lowest score of the tournament. Ewing posted a final-round 71 to end the tourney at 9-under in a tie for 22nd place.
Sophomore Alfie Mellor shot 6-under to tie for 35th place after rounds of 73-68-69. Freshman Riley Apodaca finished T-66 at 5-over par ending the week shooting 78-76-67 in 54 holes. Jan Porchet was the final individual in the field for NMJC. The sophomore tied for 73rd place after posting rounds of 76-72-75 to finish at 7-over par.
The T-Birds next match will be the Hrnciar in Duncan, Oklahoma at the Territory Golf & CC Oct. 6-7.
