NMJC (Rodeo) Hires Kaytlyn Miller as the Women’s Rodeo Assistant Coach
NMJC is proud to announce the hire of Kaytlyn Miller as the Women's Rodeo Assistant Coach.
"I am thrilled to have Kaytlyn join the coaching team here at NMJC," NMJC women's rodeo head coach Alexa Wilcox said. "Kaytlyn is a proven competitor and has a heart for coaching. I'm excited to see the intensity she brings to the team and am looking forward to our athletes learning from her experience!"
Miller arrives in Hobbs, NM after an extensive career in the college rodeo arena. After growing up on cattle ranches in Utah and Nevada, she took her talents to the Southwest Region competing at South Plains College from 2018-20 and then continuing her career at Texas Tech from 2020-24.
Coach Miller is elated to start her career with the Thunderbirds as they get ready for the 2025-26 season.
"I'm extremely excited to join NMJC and work alongside Coach Wilcox with the women's rodeo program," Miller said. "I'm super grateful for the opportunity, and I can't wait to get started."
Miller specialized in goat tying, breakaway roping, team roping, and barrel racing during her collegiate career.
A three-time College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) qualifier, Miller consistently ranked among the top five goat tyers in the nation and was named the CNFR Reserve All-Around Champion in 2022. She also earned fifth overall in goat tying at the CNFR in both 2019 and 2023. In 2024, she was awarded the Southwest Region Horse of the Year and claimed All-Around titles at the Howard College and Sweetwater College Rodeos.
Miller's career includes numerous individual event championships and All-Around titles across the Southwest Region—from Vernon College to Alpine, Sweetwater, Texas Tech, and more.
While at Texas Tech, Miller was a key contributor to the women's rodeo team and twice earned the title of Women's Goat Tying Champion.
Academically, Miller holds a master's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Natural Resources and Communications, as well as a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics—both from Texas Tech University.
Kaytlyn will begin her stint with the Thunderbirds starting Monday, Aug. 11.
