On Friday morning of the Desert Classic, the New Mexico Junior College Women's Basketball team defeated Pima Community College 55-39.
The Thunderbirds were led by freshmen Daiane Machado and Dezirae Hampton combined to score 26 of the 55 points as the each scored 13 points. Machado added a team high 6 rebounds and added two assists to tie for the team lead with four other Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds shot 41.2% from the field, a drastic improvement from Thursday.
Up next for NMJC will be Cochise College on Saturday to wrap up their trip to Arizona.
