Thunderbirds down Dallas Diesel

In their final game of the Western Texas Classic, the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds played The Dallas Diesel and defeated them 75-60.
In a game much closer than the 15 point margin of victory, the Thunderbirds had 5 players in double digits led by Sophomore Alana da Silva's 15. da Silva played arguably her best game of the season as she shot 4-of-6 from behind the arc while adding six rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
Daiane Machado stayed hot as she added another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow Freshman Alexis Winters played a huge game as well posting her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Nycolle Smith and Dezirae Hampton just missed out on double-doubles as they both scored 10 points while coming up two rebounds short of the feat. Hampton also tied for the team lead with five assists.
The Thunderbirds dominated the glass as the enjoyed a 65-48 rebound advantage with 28 of those coming on the offensive glass.
NMJC will travel to Weatherford on Tuesday to take on the Coyotes, normally a Region V power, who are off to a slow start this season with a 1-6 record. Game time is set for 5:30 P.M. CST.
