T-Birds Fall to Texans At Texan Dome

The T-Birds went head to head with the South Plains Texans on Monday night in Levelland, TX at the Texan Dome. The T-Birds fell short and lost 52-62.
It was a tough first half for the T-Birds as the only lead they held on the Texans was by 1 point when sophomore Precious Cowan scored the first 3-point shot of the game. After a few 3-pointers made by the South Plains, the T-Birds went into the second quarter trailing the Texans 9-17.
The Texans maintained their lead and outscored the T-Birds in the second quarter by only 4 points. The T-Birds went into halftime trailing the Texans 14-26, making this the largest lead by the Texans in the first half.
The T-Birds came out strong in the second half and quickly shortened the lead, out scoring the Texans 16-12 in the third quarter. Both teams got into foul trouble resulting in both Precious Cowan and freshman Danna Grenald fouling out for the T-Birds with just a few minutes left in the game. The Texans outscored the T-Birds in the final quarter 24-22, ending the game in a loss for the T-Birds 52-62 against the Texans. The T-Birds are now 2-2 in conference play.
T-Birds scoring double digits were Precious Cowan with 15 points and Danna Grenald with 11 points. Sophomore Madina Camara finished the game with 7 points followed by sophomore Delma Zita with 6 points.
Next up for the T-Birds is Howard College on Monday, January 17th at home in Caster Activity Center at 4:45PM MST.
