No. 11 NMJC stomped Western Texas College Monday night 68-39. NMJC has now won six straight games dating back to Dec. 11.
The T-Birds were up by as many as 29 points in the wire-to-wire victory over the Westerners.
NMJC only led the Westerners by two points, 17-15, with 7:41 left in the second quarter. The Thunderbirds promptly went on a 13-0 run to end the half with a 30-15 lead. The T-Birds dismantled the Westerners in the second half, outscoring Western Texas 38-24 in the 68-39 win.
Guard Madina Camara finished with a team-high 13 points, while adding three rebounds, and two steals. Forward Sandra Magolico pitched in 10 points and 4 steals.
Guard Shu'Niya Ross scored a career-high 11 points off the bench. Forward Mariama Sow was solid for the T-Birds off the bench as well with 10 points and four rebounds.
The T-Birds shot 26-of-54 (48.1%) from the field, 2-for-9 (22.3%) from the three-point line, and forced 18 turnovers in the win over Western Texas.
The Thunderbirds improve to 14-2 on the year and 3-0 in conference. NMJC will play South Plains College Thursday, Jan. 19 at 5:45 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, NM.
