NMJC women's basketball throttled Fort Hays Tech 92-41 on Monday, Nov. 3.
The T-Birds held the Tigers to 12 points in the first and second quarters while scoring 44 points in the first half. The fourth quarter is where NMJC extended the lead extensively by outscoring Fort Hays 29-4. The Thunderbirds went on to win the game by 51 points.
Freshman Madison Wilson registered her first double-double picking up 13 rebounds and 12 points. Forward Addison Edwards finished with 13 points and three rebounds.
Freshman Indigo Bell tallied a career high 11 points notching three triples and three assists. Guard Liz Buendia scored a career-high 10 points and forward Manata Kibuabua grabbed six rebounds.
Sophomore guard Jada Graves ended the day with seven points and four assists. Rekiah Bowen added eight points and five rebounds.
The T-Birds shot 35-for-79 (44.3%) from the field, 11-of-35 (31.4%) from the 3-point line, and 11-of-16 (68.8%) from the free throw line. NMJC forced 19 turnovers and held the Tigers to 22% from the field.
The No. 9 Thunderbirds improve to 2-0 and will face No. 17 Arizona Western Thursday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. CST in Odessa, Texas.
