Buendia's Big Day Helps T-Birds Earn 8th Win
NMJC defeated Northeastern JC handedly 86-41 on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
The T-Birds scored 23 points in the first quarter and held NJC to just four points. The Plainswomen's only field goal in the first quarter was at the 45 second mark.
The Thunderbirds led at the half 43-14 and went on to win the Thanksgiving eve matchup by 45 points.
NMJC had a rarity on their hands with all 14 players on the active roster scoring.
Jada Graves led the way for NMJC Wednesday with 18 points. Freshman Luisa Amaral had a big day recording nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Liz Buendia was in double figures for the second time this season scoring a career-high 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. Madison Wilson finished with a team-high eight points.
The T-Birds shot 32-for-77 (41.6%) from the field, 7-of-20 (35%) from the 3-point line, and 15-of-23 (65.2%) from the stripe.
The No. 10 Thunderbirds move to 8-1 on the year and will face Laramie County CC in Cheyenne, WY Friday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. MST.
