NMJC (WBB) Earns Bounce-Back Win
The No. 9 NMJC women's basketball team got back on track with a 92-56 win over Southwestern Christian College on Friday, Nov. 7.
The T-Birds held a double-digit lead, 43-31, over the Rams at half. NMJC exploded in the third quarter outscoring Southwestern Christian 31-11 in the frame. The Thunderbirds led by as many as 37 in the fourth quarter defeating the Rams 92-56.
Caitlin Wilson recorded her first double-double of her career adding 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jada Graves registered 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
A triple threat of guards scored 11 points Friday. Kaycee Steinke finished with 11 points and three assists. Rekiah Bowen tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Zarai Lewis finished with 11 points. Madison Wilson was the lone forward with 11 points and five rebounds.
Forward Addison Edwards added nine points and three blocks. Freshman Manata Kibuabua notched six rebounds and five blocks. Indigo Bell and Azaleeah Oloapu both ended the morning with four assists.
The T-Birds shot 36-for-79 (45.6%) from the field, 8-of-26 (30.8%) from the 3-point line, and 12-of-19 (63.2%) from the free throw line. NMJC forced 19 turnovers and held the Rams to 33.3% from the field.
The No. 9 Thunderbirds will play Seward County Friday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. MST in Hobbs, NM.
