NMJC heads to NJCAA indoors ranked No. 3 in nation
Lady T-Birds start event Friday in Albuquerque
HOBBS, N.M. – The New Mexico Junior College women's track and field team heads to Friday's NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque ranked third in the latest poll released Tuesday.
The Lady Thunderbirds moved up one spot from the previous poll, switching places with No. 4 Central Arizona. Iowa Central remains No. 1 while South Plains is No. 2.
NMJC qualifiers for the national meet are: Mayah Edward (60 meters), Kayelle Clarke (60, 200), Marquetta Mapps (60, 200), Breain Lewis (200), Cheyenne Hoerr (200, 600, pentathlon), Tiffany Garcia (200, 400), Quadaisha Newkirk (400, 600, 60 hurdles), Jahneya Mitchell (400, 600), Ja'Ianna Williams (600), Silvia Sosa (800, 1,000), Naomi Tanui (1,000), Purity Murray (3,000, 5,000), Jourdan Doffeny (60 hurdles, pentathlon), Danyell Kates (60 hurdles), Markita Rush (60 hurdles, pentathlon), Kelsey Shannon (high jump), Micayla Collins (triple jump, long jump), Gleneve Grange (shot put, weight throw, pentathlon) and the 4x400, 4x800 and medley relay teams.
