The No. 19 Thunderbirds defeated Frank Phillips College in four sets on Saturday (25-18, 26-24, 16-25, 25-21).
The T-Birds move to 4-2 in the conference and sit in third place behind Midland and Odessa who are both 5-1 atop the WJCAC.
The T-Birds set two career-highs during Saturday afternoon's contest. Libero Milena Cernjanski finished with a career-high 25 digs in the win over the Plainsmen.
Lacie Schooley also set a career-high in digs against Frank Phillips with 25 in the match, while adding 42 assists.
Iva Popovic recorded 23 kills and 20 digs, one shy of tying career-highs in both categories. Maggie Machado finished the match with 19 kills and 11 digs. Karielys Maldonado added seven kills on the night.
The T-Birds moved up in the national rankings to No. 18 on Monday. The new ranking is the highest NMJC volleyball has reached in school history.
NMJC will play Amarillo College Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in Amarillo, Texas.
